Franz Schubert

String Quintet in C major D. 956

Join us for the second night of our festival as we journey through a myriad of soundscapes. We are first plunged into the exquisite landscape of Messiaen's seminal Catalogue d'Oiseaux, each piece portraying in kaleidoscopic harmonies a bird in its own environment. Performed by American pianist, George Xiaoyuan Fu.

Next we hear a performance of drupad and dhamar, considered to be the oldest surviving genres of Hindustani classical music, given by the exceptional specialists of the genre, Kirit Singh and Jasdeep Singh.

The evening culminates in a performance of Schubert’s celebrated String Quintet, performed by the vibrant Echéa Quartet who join forces with the dynamic and brilliant John Myerscough (Doric Quartet).
